Quilts, Quilt History, Textile Art, Quilt Classes, We Have It All!
Kathryn Greenwold grew up surrounded by quilts and other needlearts. Her grandmothers taught her embroidery, counted cross-stitch, and the basics of quilting. She developed a love for these art forms as a child and has grown in skill and knowledge through research and by doing. Quilt making is her primary interest. She has studied Quilt History, has taken the AQS Appraisal Skills Course, and has served as a quilt judge for local guild shows. Her classes are varied, reflecting the broad knowledge she has of the quilting world.
Art Quilts, Textile Arts, the Future of Quilting
In exploring art through her quilts, Kathryn has been experimenting with the manipulation of surfaces, painting directly on fabric, mounting quilts on canvas, and incorporating unconventional materials in her quilts. Experimentation is an important part of her creative life, which has led to the hand-painted and stamped fabrics that are available through our SHOPPING CART. See the full list at QUILTS, PATTERNS, AND FABRICS.
Kathryn has never been one to "color inside the lines" and encourages her students to try new things.
Many of her workshops are designed to teach techniques and concepts rather than specific quilt patterns so that the student will be able to develop an individualized style and apply these techniques to many quilts. Go to the CLASSES page for more information.
Quilt Appraisals and Judging
Kathryn is an AQS trained appraiser offering services to collectors as well as quilters. She has over 12 years of appraisal experience primarily with antique quilts and traditional contemporary quilts. Go to the APPRAISALS AND JUDGING page for more information.
